Vogue v8 wont turn over

Hi guys
I have a 2001 vogue petrol v8 l322. Some time ago I stopped the car after a short journey and left it for around 2 hours. On returning I had all ignition lights and functions but the engine wouldn't turn over. It's been sat for 18 months now ( I know that's not great) and have just fitted a new battry to it but still the same. Any advice on what to look for next would be great. Thanks

'Yes its s long way from Buckinghamshire to Northampton.

If it does anything like mine then I suggest that the starter has burnt out.

Was it turning over slowly before?

How did you manage to get a 2001 L322? They were introduced in 2002.

Have you tried starting it in Neutral as well as Park, just in case the transmission inhibitor switch is playing up?

I've been hard at work so a bit late to your thread. If you don't have it started yet, my advice is check and re-check every earth strap that links the engine to the body. I was too ill to do that with my L322 earlier in the year after I had a new starter motor fitted it developed exactly the same issue. All lights but no crank. It cost me several hundred pounds, after the garage found an earth fault, trying to find a suspected immobiliser problem that never existed.
When I got my car back from the garage I had to use the key in the door to lock it and if left for more than a hour I had to disconnect the battery as the car wouldn't shut down. Added to that the sound system was blank. After a month of that madness I just sat at the fuse box and pulled them all one by one, cleaned them and replaced them. Suddenly, I look up at the dash to find normal service had been resumed.
In celebration I treated myself to a new key fob and touch wood, she starts every time just like it left the factory(at least I think that's how they left the factory but who knows).
My only reservation is that come the autumn cold and rain and we could be back to starter issues, fingers crossed.

Thankyou for your reply. It seems just the same as your issue as I also have no sound. I read on a post that mark c commented on about checking starter relays and powering different parts. I can get the engine to spin over by bypassing the starter relay but still not firing. I'm going to go through all the fuses today and let you know how I get on.

Good Evening. I meant a 2004 in my original post. So today I checked all the earth's I could see around the engine bay. Cleaned and refitted. I pulled all the fuses out and visually checked them and re fitted. I also took the starter relay out and checked I was getting 12v there to switch the relay but none up to the black wires I guess coming from the fuse board or immobiliser??? I got 12v and a promising click from the relay buy still no crank when the key is turned. Could this mean it's an immobiliser fault? The key goes in and the park lock releases and all ignition functions work which made me think at first it couldn't be. Another point to note is that I removed the ecm inside the box to the left of the engine bay to find some fairly green stains between the plugs and the ecm. I removed the board from inside the ecm and found the same green and bad looking connection on the circuit board itself. I've cleaned with contact cleaner but to no avail. If this is a possible then where is a good place to send it? Thanks again

Your symptoms are exactly what I had. My garage had the dash open and swapped various boxes, they even tried a new immobiliser unit but that was a waste of £100. Your right about the green stuff. It's not good and may be part of the problem. You certainly have done the right thing with the earth points. I still believe that removing the battery earth and leaving for several hours or days does make sure all the stored power is soaked away and effectively creates a reboot of sorts. It worked for me in the end so don't give up.
