Reet, been away with me fender n caravan, on long pulls the engine got a little on the warm side, in face very close to the red, was looking for somwhere to pull over tbh.

anyway, got home without issue (cept one eye on the temp guage) thought, ill check the fan whilse it warm, literally got home, after 80 miles of towing, and stuck the van on the drive, popped the engine and turned the engine off.

The fan moved as easily was when cold, how warm does it need to be to lock up, or just a second thought, dows it need to be spinning to lock up??

thought so, will do, or might stick a leccy one on, can get one of them for nowt :) Its not an issue when im solo, done the same roads and everything, its that extra ton and a half on the back that does it.

I run mine with a Kenlo electric fan. I took the viscous off as I think mine was buggered. Kept turning all the time and the engine never got warm in the winter and yes I did change the thermostat. I have had the Kenlo on for three years now and only heard it come one once when I was pulling trees in the forest in 35C. I have no regrets.

mines prolly going electric, can possibly get a proper kenlow cheap, or know where I can get me hands on one from a tranny van.
Mine isn't locking up at all, which is fine solo, never moves off 1/2, but she wasnt happy at the weekend going up Garrowby Hill, approx mile and a bit of 17% gradient with the caravan on the back.
