VIN issue

When I start the ignition the radio plays for a couple of minutes then displays the message 'Incorrect VIN system will shut down' then it does!
I assume the previous owner changed it out for an identical unit.Only had the car 2 weeks.

I'm guessing it's a Freelander 2? If so what year?

Yeah 2011 facelift

A 2011 should only be 0.5 facelift, as only the bumpers and lamps changed. The interior facelift didn't happen until late 2012.
Does it have a traditional manual hand brake, or an electronic parking brake?
Does it have satnav?

No screen no sat nav , manual transmission and handbrake.

What stereo is it?
Low line or mid line?
Is the CD slot below the LCD or above the LCD?
