Hi everyone,
Im after a bit of advise about a problem i have with my 54 plate freelander td4.

Basically for the past year i have noticed that i am getting some vibration through the car when driving, especially between around 40 to 50mph. This is now starting to get a lot worse. I have had the tyres checked for balancing which seems ok, and to be honest with how it vibrates it feels a lot more serious than tyre balancing.

Any help - advice is really appreciated.

I had a similar problem and in my case it turned out to be VCU bearings, I removed the propshaft and the vibration was gone, brought a recon VCU and new bearings, refitted prop and now good as new

As above - most likely joints or bearings connected to the propshaft so take it off with VCU and see if it still vibrates. If not, check VCU bearings, UJ joints and front joint for play. My rear UJ joint where prop meets diff was well knackered and that started with vibrations at certain speeds, getting worse on decellerating. Good luck!

Could it be the lower engine mount ? tie rod worth checking, I think there are two different ones depending on the year of the FL 1 but it may not be it just throwing it into the mix so to speak.

I had vibrations around 90 kph (55 mph). I balanced the wheels but it didnt help much.
Changed the VCU bearings – didnt help. I was getting desperate – thought about changing prop. shaft, VCU or replace the diff. mounts.
But when the back wheels where off and I roled them along the workshop floor they bounced noticably because of assymetrical wear. I changed all four wheels– now it runs smooth...
