Had a very strange vibration and droning occur on my V6 last week at around 60-70, slowed down and it disappeared. Nothing odd when I applied the brakes and when I pulled over could see nothing untoward underneath so continued my journey and it was fine. Did the same route several times over the past few days and all good. Until today; same speed and same stretch of road, A14 into Ipswich, same vibration and droning. Pulled over checked around and looked underneath, again nothing. Continued on my journey and return, same speed nothing.

Only thing I have done recently is have the rear engine mount replaced, that must be 500 miles ago? Any ideas?

Bad worn out road surface, concrete rather than Tarmac !! The a12 has similar patches, you think you're running with a flat, then back on Tarmac smooth again.

+1 On the road surface loads of bits like that near me in leicestershire, can depend on what tyres your using too from experience bridgestones when half worn can pick up more road noise than other brands

Might be worth doing a diagnostic on the engine's ECU. If the V6 drops a cylinder, it's almost unnoticed when cruising, other than a slightly vibration.
