hi all
Had the cambelt and water pump changed today
When driving home I found the car vibrated and knocked from the front right. Only when driving and doesn't seem to be from the engine as it doesn't go away if I dip the clutch. And doesn't change if I then Rev the engine.
I noticed when they were changing the belt that they had the engine dropped very low on that side for access
Could that of damaged something?

Presumably there's all sorts of things it could be from a lose engine mount to a knackered CV/drive shaft. Personally I wouldn't feck about - park it up and get the garage to come out and work out what they haven't put back together correctly.

My money is on the engine mount. I don't know what engine you have but on the 1.8 you have to mess about with engine mounts to change the belts.

It is a 1.8
Would engine mount or pulley issue make a noise only when it's moving though? As I said I doesn't to it when I'm not driving. Revving the engine doesn't make a difference and it does do it once moving even when I put my foot on the clutch.
I thought driveshaft. How do I test it?
The mechanic that did the job was doing me a favour so don't want to take it back unless u really have to. If it's a simple fix then I'd rather do it myself

Have a word with him then. Sound him out on what he thinks it might be. If the driveshaft was removed to lower the engine, it could be it has popped out (or not put back in the first place) and you are running RWD. If it wasn't removed, it could have been damaged when the engine was lowered.

I think i will take it in again. I'm wondering now if it's the exhaust as the flexi part seems to rattle when it's revved and there's is now a more pronounced banging as well as the vibration

A word of wisdom. Get this cowboy to sort it out and use someone who knows what f..k they are doing next time. The engine should be supported on a beam, not left to simply hang down, unsupported.

It was in a beam but just hanging low. It might be completely unrelated.
I've noticed the engine seems louder now after around 4000 revs. No obvious exhaust blow but I can't think of anything else that would make the engine noise louder
