My 2001 TD5 D90 has started to get a bit of vibration at 50mph and above. No unusual noises and no noticeable change in the car other than the vibration.

I haven’t had a chance to look underneath yet, but don’t really know what I am looking for to be honest. Does anyone know what to look out for and what the potential problem could be?

It started happening just after driving through a fairly deep puddle but can’t imagine that should have anything to do with it?

Any help would be really appreciated!!

First thing to check is the UJ's on the prop shafts. It's easier if the axles you are checking is off the ground and the wheels unwieghted (so you can spin the shaft).
Give it a good push, pull and shake, there should be 'no' lateral movement at all.
Look closely and you should see grease nipples, grease these liberally, you will hear pops and cracks and see the grease.

If there is no movement go for a drive and see if (after greasing) there is still a shake.

Thanks for the replies!

So I’ve had a look underneath and there’s nothing obvious. No excess of mud, UJs are solid with no wobble, nothing else clearly broken or out of place. I’ll squirt some grease into the UJs just in case they’re a bit dry, but I guess the next step is to check wheel alignment and balance. Any other ideas I can try?

I've had exactly the same on mine, replaced front prop as there was a little play in UJ's, made no difference. Checked rear prop and no movement at all, took it off and there was about 1/4 inch movenent. I put a new rear prop on and vibration has gone.
Not sure why the play in the rear prop was not visible when it was in the landy.
