just had the seals in my steering box replaced and a new drop arm. Now the steering is so heavy I can hardly turn the wheel.

Fluid is good and no leaks.

Is there an adjuster to loosen the steering anywhere as if not there is something wrong.

Thanks,

Pete

There is an adjuster on the steering box,but before going to that has the system been bled,is the res free of bubbles/foamingand does the pump get noisy if you hold it on full lock?

its the allen key and lock nut on top of the box cap turning it anti clockwise will loosen clockwise tighten , only adjust when steering box is centered and the adjuster is there to remove play between input and the sector shaft, often new or recon boxes are slightly over adjusted, if you loosen it enough that it is still tight to steer but input has play its rack adjuster or poor box/pump then

Yes noisy when on full lock the first couple of times each way but that is cleared. Sounds like air in the system then which will make things heavier.

I assume safe to drive just even more of a pain in tight slow spaces.

Will get a bleed kit and spend half an hour o

bleeding wont help they are self bleeding having a feed and a return, if its get air in you need a new pump, stiff steering can also be tight ujs in steering shaft

It was fine before the guy did the seals on the box and refitted it, could he have over adjusted things?
