van anyone explain the 10P/15P thing to me?

Hi all,

Despite searching for an answer I still don't understand what a10P or 15P engine is.

Can anyone explain this to me please? What is the difference, at the parts interchangeable etc?

15p is obviously the later model, and featured several improvements to overcome some of the problems encountered in the 10p model.

I'm no expert, but from what I have read most of the changes were in the head, as injectors are different...metal dowels replaced nylon ones...egr set up changed... fuel cooler changed...fuel pressure regulator changed.

Shifty is your man on this subject... he has far more TD5 experience than most on here.

I run a 10p, and at 112,000 miles still going strong.... touch wood!

Interesting reading. As I am looking at fitting a 15p to what was a 10p. Still not 100% but think I have just got to fit newer ecu. 15p has injectors already in with fuel cooler and pressure reg.

If you swap the whole engine you'll need a corresponding ECU too and a wiring mod for the airbox sensor and 4 pin sensor but if you use the injectors from the 10P engine you dont, and if you swap injectors put them in the same order

So will 10p injectors go in a 15p as somewhere I saw the 15p cam has more travel and runs higher pressure. Also the fuel pressure reg is slightly different. One of the pipes is different !!!

Not sure but will the pipe work have to be changed as well.

Engine comes with a wiring loom so will just have to get a different air box sensor.

Yes. i forgot about the FPR, you need a Eu3 modell of that one too and not just the wiring if you leave the 15P(green top) injectors you need a proper ECU too, the original 10P MSB ECU will not work well with green top injectors

Simply, it is how much it actually costs Land rover to make the engines.
