Valve stem oil seals

hi guys my p38 2.5 diesel Bmw engined car pumps black smoke out on start up and under hard acceleration so I’m thinking valve stem oil seals my question to yous is how difficult is this to do I’m a guy who can change starters alternater air suspension bags struts springs brake pads but by no stretch of the imagination could I say I’m a mechanic I love messing with my rangy and when I do a job and it starts again I’m on cloud 9 so guys is it something I could do or does it go into garage thanks in advance. black smoke is fuel not oil from stem seals

So do the oil seals need doing or is it something else to be done cheers

I’ve just had the injector pump rebuilt

When I think after the pump being done it stutters a but when at a stop like top of pump not on correctly could this be causing the smoke thanks

its still either cranking too much and so having excess fuel when it does start or too much fuel is been injected or not enough air

So it’s a garage job for a fuel service troubl is finding someone capable of doing this specialist job any ideas I’m in Newcastle upon tyne

So thinking about what you said it could be the top of the injection pump hasn’t been put back in the correct position

First thing to check would be air filter clean

My word lads you know your stuff air mixture not right I took out air filter blew it through and car is 100% better new one going in later thanks for the help
