That's another case of some chancer asking four grand for a less than two grand motor. If he was asking 2 grand I'd still be looking to get it cheaper.

yea but its ex mod so will be 24v, and same powerplant as this - and its a van - im really needing a SW

It's unlikely to be 24v unless it was FFR. Most of them are 12v. you can pick a 200tdi engine up for less than £250. can't do anything about it not been a CSW sorry. If I could get someone to buy my 90 I'd have that off him like a shot.

For not much more than £4K you should get a TDi with a galvanised chassis, that is WAYYYY too much for a td on a bog standard "painted" chassis (the paint will be covering up the rust!)

so the general concensus is you fooking twit dont bother then? lol

right - spoken to a few people. i am waiting for a call back from someone in shropshire who has someone seeing his csw tomorrow. if he doesnt take it i have first refusal

LAND ROVER 110 DEFENDER 200 TDI 6mthTax.4mthMOT. County on eBay, also, Land Rover Range Rover, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Mar-09 22:25:39 BST)

look better?

lol

dunno why you dont buy that nice hardtop i posted before and put a few windows in it - btw thats also in Shropshire and it's going to sell for a lot less than 3300 quid

so was it a red landy, a cream landy or a grey landy ? - i bet the paintwork on it is rank

bloody hell - looks like i have a habit of going and looking at the bad ones

a hardtop would be easier to get hold of but having 5 doors is appealing - and easier if carrying 3 or 4 people long distances

sean, that hardtop is nice, but its also got some work to do. ideally i am after something thats sound, no leaks etc so i can just do the cosmetics etc. i would prefer a CSW, but may be tempted by a decent hardtop and then put benches in the back

Got to say carpy You really need to open you're eyes to what's available at the moment. It's a buyers market and you need to slow down and shop around. If you've got 4 k to spend, have a look on Autotrader and Brightwells and similar sites and see what things are selling for.

that hard top doesnt need any work doing, unless you count the seat being slightly ripped - it's also already got seating for 4

that CSW has a door that doesnt open !

and when your traveling how many people will you be traveling with ....

and as for wanting one that doesnt leak ! (ok mine doesnt)

ya to be fair initially i was hoping to sort it within the next few weeks, but theres no real rush.

just got to hope something will pop up

travelling - looking at 3 or 4 people potentially - though may be 2. for the other things it will be used with 4 doors is more ideal to be honest with you.

I can probly get you an L reg 200 needs a little bit doing (electrics) for MOT, 110 CSW, drives a dream for a grand and a half in Kernow if you want!

i think i need to get myself clued up on the electrics of these things - im at a pretty basic level with the mechanic side of things. i would jump at it but wouldnt know where to start ot get it in shape.

at the moment its all balancing on the sale of my french mobile anyway. on arrival of that cash it will be a green

a couple of grand for 2 seldom used doors is a lot of dosh

it is - but that couple of grand will be a better investment becuase from what i can see a CSW holds its value alot better than a hardtop.

i guess im a bit stubborn, but i do prefer a CSW, and from the usage point of view i do think it would be more worthwhile. just means i will have to fork out a little more
