I was just wondering what would be an acceptable asking price of a landy which has had a brand new galvanised chassis and galvanised bulkhead with a new interior, Carpeted, no rust on doors, new bushes all round, new water pump, radiator, timing belt conversion, new clutch, new brakes all round, new suspension and springs, new exhaust, all arms cleaned and painted along with axels new lights and arches and a full respray along with refurbished wheels and 5 new tyres. Btw it would be a 300tdi with 100kish miles

Unfortunately your only going to get around the 6 to 8k mark at the very most due to the fact for few extra pennies you could buy a new version of the 90..
may I ask why you would sell after putting in so much work?

yeah would be original loom with any issue fixed on it, it just i can find a landy for £2000 that comes with van sides and in need of a new chassis and was wondering what it would could sell for after all the work has been done.

Huddersfield Land Rover Centre have got 3 SWB series on new galv' chassis for around £20k Go figure :scratching_chin::scratching_chin:

Specially built for the millionaire's who want a new toys thats different to the others!!!
Only way their selling them for 20k!!!:eek:2

Before christmas i went to leominster 4x4 auctions with a mate to see what things were making... there was an L reg defender 90 there with county pack, nut and bolt rebuild, powder coated chassis, respray in diffent colour to what was on v5, and a mileage of 30k (whih was listed as the incorrect mileage.

It made £12800:eek:

Its like asking how long is a piece of string.

Its 50% parts used and quality of workmanship and its 50% market.

If you have replaced everything with stainless bolts etc and used the best of the best and obtained a brand new 300TDI or maybe a tgv then yes top money for the right buyer who is either really rich or wants a piece of history.

Once you decide to just repair the original part then its not new and people don't like paying new prices for old gear.

Its difficult to say without seeing it but, for original doors and an engine on 100K that i don't know the history of, i would say between 6-7K.

Lol I thought that but what about actual price I can't just put whatever your willing to pay

Well in a way you can. You could build to suit a person's budget. If you were looking to go into it as a form of income, don't take this the wrong way, but what you are effectively doing is assembling a vehicle from a pile of parts and charging for your time. A lot of potential customers would look at how much they could save by assembling it themselves. You need quality workmanship that is worthy of the price you charge for it. Again don't take offence, but anyone could order a pile of shiny bits, bolt them together and plug some wiring in. You need to have experience, genuine knowledge and proven results to show what a person's money is going to get them. That's what makes someone willing to pay you your price rather than go to Bodgit Backstreet Repairs down the road.

This had a reserve price of 10k on eBay and sold the other day. Some of you may recognise it from the February Edition of LRM (towards the back, I think).

Lots of time and effort in this one and it certainly looks to be well done by the enthusiast who built it.

That said, 10k is not that much money for the time that went into making it.

As the guys mentioned below, you really need to cost your time more than anything else.

Rebuilt 200/300tdi is better than anything new in my eyes, the less electrics, sensors, egr valves, cats the better, just fully rebuilt my 200tdi chassis, just the doors and body to do, all for me though and won't be sold
