Val D'Isere, Croisiere Blanche, etc...

I've read loads about these sorts of events in France, and the idea of driving across snowy mountain ranges sounds brilliant, as does scaling them in the summer.

Weirdly though, I can find very little about either online! Is Val D'Isere still an annual offroad event? If so, when does it happen and what's it like?

Similarly, Croisiere De Blanche, is this an event or just a popular 4x4 area?

Croisiere Blanche was a brilliant "friendly" rally that ended in 2009. It took place around.orcieres . Here is a video of the year we did it:

It was finished off by the ecowarriers. GRM have replaced it with a classic car rally CB classic....very different :-(

Well, of course it was banned. Look at all the bloody snow you damaged!

Apparently we were disturbing some nesting owl or something. Didnt seem to mind several million skiers, but the turbo whine from a 300tdi was the final straw for it. Gutted that we never got the chance to do the event again.

Well, if it was for the owls then I'm okay with it it. My, I've seen some cute ones on the cartoons and they talked just like us.

Damn, real shame the Croisiere Blacnhe no longer happens, would've loved to take part! What is with all these mis-informed do-gooders banning all fun? Seriously, i'm all for the environment, hell I live in the middle of the countryside because I enjoy it so much! But these people infuriate me with their lack of knowledge and understanding about ecological issues.

Anyhoo, so that no longer goes ahead - how about the Val D'Isere 4x4 show in the summer?

Maybe we should do a Landyzone Alps run then? Id be game for it. looks spiffing old chap. D

Yeah that could be cool, would need someone with some local knowledge though to plot a route - can't really just point at a mountain and go!
