V8 Timing???

Simple question,

RR - 'J' reg with 3.9 efi, am I right in saying the ignition timing should
be between +1 and -1 TDC?

Without looking in the manual I would of thought it would be between 5 and 8
deg BTDC. But saying that there were lots of differant settings over the
years

HBoL gives:

1990-on
8.13 noncat 2 +/- 1 deg. BTDC
8.13 cat 6 +/- 1 deg. BTDC
9.35 noncat 4 +/- 1 deg. BTDC
