V8 starting/idle issues - I know, not another one!

Hi all.

I have recently got a 1996 3.9 V8 Disco, with, wait for it...

...Starting Issues!!!!

Just to start, it is LPG converted, single point, and runs sweet on LPG, but not on petrol.

The fuel pump sounded ropey so purchased a new Bearmach one, fitted. Couldnt get is to fire properly on petrol, so checked fuel to rail. There is fuel. Thought it could be a pressure problem so crimped the return line. It runs. Purchased and fitted a working fuel pressure regulator, same thing, runs when crimped stalls when released.

I have almost got to the point of vice grips removed and close to idling, but not quite.

Any help would be grreatly appreciated.

fuel filter clogged..injectors clogged....ie you are increasing pressure to make it run...so start at basics...

oh..single point lpg is pooh...save up for multipoint..soooooooooooo much better

Thanks. Multi point is on my wish list. Need it running on petrol first. What is the best way of cleaning a clogged injector? The previous owner bypassed the filter. Not impressed. I have a new one to fit so will do when I get the old one off.
