I take it it's the whole change, i.e. loom and ecu and everything else? Or do classics not have so many electronics all talking to each other and having a hissy fit if onw doesnt fit?

eletr****erie is not for me its gunna have an on/off switch with a start button. If it dont like winter then i will put in heat plug circuit otherwise i got lights and thats it.:D:D:D:D

go for it and good luck wish i could do things like that to p38
some small amount of wire for lpg and
you could wack a set of carbs on it.ive a manifold and su,s for a 4.0.it had a V8 in which was efi converted to carbs.eletronic ignition dizzy cap and coil that was it.easy except wind down windows etc....no air con etc..

infact its just a big defender now...

200tdi is a great engine.

Get a boost guage and adjust the boost back up to the 1 bar its supposd to have, most of them have dropped to about 0.8 at this stage.

For what its worth and I know most people think they are a con job, I got some worthwhile improvement in bottom end pulling power by fitting a Hiclone, albeit at the expense of top end restriction. I got a measurable improvement (10sec better with as against without 20sec as against 30) in acceleration from 30 to 60 in fifth gear. 0-60 was marginally worse but each in-gear time was better (only marginal in 3rd) with the hiclone than without with, like I said above, a marked improvement in fifth gear indicating a substantive enough increase in bottom end torque - probably as a result of increased swirl before the turbo has come in properly. But like I said I felt that it was restricting the power at the top end as borne out by the worse 0-60 time (1 second worse).
I haven't done enough research into the 200tdi head design to explain this scientifically yet (I don't think the Hiclone could have any benefit whatsoever on a modern engine with well designed swirl chambers) but my measurements showed something was going on.
However the instructions from hiclone called for two units, one just before the plenum and one unbelieveably before the turbo. I think this is part of what leads people to think they are a con job, the turbo would surely destroy any benefit of that one. If I got another 200tdi I would buy a single one. I told the guy I sold my 200tdi RRC to about it as he was buying it as a donor engine for an LSE conversion. He had another RRC and I think he took out the second hiclone and fitted it to his one and was quite happy with it.

Anyway just my pennies worth
BTW I don't sell them or have anything to do with them so this is not a sales pitch, just a bit of advice if you're fitting a 200tdi and think bottom end performance is more important than top.

ive got twin inter coolers going in for a start

Yeah you should see some solid gains with those babies!:D:D0

like hiclones work
hey, I'm only reporting what i went to the trouble of going out and measuring on the same road on the same day pre and post fitting, which was a quantifiable improvement in the power zone most important to me at the expense of another for an outlay of £40 (admittedly I got duped by the sales pitch and paid £80 for 2 but like I said previously I think 1 will do the same job on this engine). I've never heard anybody who has fitted one to a 200tdi come on any forum and knock it, its always armchair sceptics. Having said that I honestly doubt they could have any benefit on a more modern engine, and I've no idea what would happen in the long run if any corrosion caused a bit of it to come off and fly into a cylinder:eek:
The route Beast is going down is a far superior way of improving performance with proven power benefits throughout the rev range coupled with likely increase in longevity through lower operating temps. But it cost a few bob, right Beast:p

They were too embarrassed after being so easily duped :D

Yeah, I'm the only one fool enough to put my head above the parapet on this litttle nugget :rolleyes:
And it gets shot off every single time!:D:D

Wouldn't mind but the 200tdi has gone on to bigger and better things, like lugging around an LSE:eek: Bets its glad its got them hiclones:D:D
