They do sound good at idle though.;)
I was thinking i should buy and sell them onto the UK. there still a few around over here

That one i was going to fit is still available. My mate will probably want some money for it if im not going to use it (but not much i would think around maybe 200pound).
bearings are the same as the 3.5, gaskets should be the same however the water pump and oil cover is different. You could probably change to land rover one. What spares you after?
When i pick my block up from being reconditioned i will ask them about price on bottom end rebuilds on them for your info.

Decided to lose the small 3.9 V8. I'm going with the HS 2.8 TGV later this month. I'm tired of all the sensors/computer issues and hopefully it will bring me years of worry-free running when I take her back to the states.

is the bottom end on that one ok? is the rest of it healthy?spares were things that are p76 specific so I guess stuff like the water pump, maybe vally gaskets if they are different. service items too, if the oil filter the same for example?

maybe we could work summit out. I wonder how much shipping is?

To use it on the land rover
The 3.5 heads get used as they have all the mount points for the power steering etc.
You use the 3.5 front cover which requires the key way on the crank to be extended to fit the harmonic balancer for your drive belts.
you also need to use the flywheel off the 3.5 as it more up to the job. This will require new bolt holes to be drilled for the crank pattern.
The only real part that going to be different is the valley gasket.
The internal condition of the p76 unknown as it was bought as a spare for his 4x4 and never needed.
I will give him a call at work tomorrow to find out what he would sell it for.
