v8 exhaust!!

hey, at the moment im running a standard exhaust system on my 3.9 efi disco, ive been tempted to either buy an exhaust system or custom kae one for it as i want it to be a bit louder so i can actually hear the v8 rumble! haha, does anyone have any advice? to be honest i dont wanna go otu and spend big bucks on a system that will more than likely get ripped off while off roading!

ive heard a lot of people take out the middle silencer? is this a hard job? an what parts woud i have to get to do this? and will it affect the mot?

Hi. Last year I fitted a replacement stainless steel mid and back box from Janspeed it was a perfect fit and was a very easy DIY job as you can unbolt the exhaust hangers and then remove the rubbers. It comes in two parts which are joined in the centre with a bolted flange much better then sliding the pipe into the other method.
As for the sound, loudish to start with but after 1500 mls or so it's now a light V8 "rumble" from the tail pipe but people still look around when driving slowly through town, and no sound coming through the pipe or silencer walls which says a lot for the thickness of the steel. As for the price the best I found was £290 delivered from europerformance.co.uk but the system came direct from Janspeed.
U will notice the difference in driveability when fitted.

And u wont get nicked for excessive noise.

The whole point of having a V8 is to hear it ROAR!!!! not rumble. The whole point of having a disco is to have one with a V8 no poncey wimpy diesel for me, and my sports system really unleashes the beast of the V8!

Dont do what I did and get rid of the centre silencer, the resonance at 1500 to 2500 rpm kills your ears... ended up going back to standard exhaust til I find one with a nice sound.

Robs.... WHERE do I get one of those exhausts from and how much? Has yours got cats on it?

I dont think you will like it because its cat back and loses the front/centre silencer but it sounds very nice.

thanks guys, ive been looking at a few vids on youtube where they just take the silencer out and put a straight through pipe, they sound really loud! haha
dont get me wrong, i do want it loud, that was the whole point in getting a v8, im just on a pretty limited budget at the mo and could do without spending a hell of a lot of money on a full system

yeah Rob, where did you get yours from? i was tempted to go for the janspeed but if yours is cheaper then i may go for that one.
