Hello all

First post, in need of help.

Turns over fine, but won't fire up. I have already replaced the amplifier module, coil, dizzy cap and rotor arm, but no go.

Any ideas or pointers?

Cheers

So many question need to be answered mate, how did it come about? Was it running fine before? Has anything changed? How competent are you, can you test components? Is there fuel getting to injectors? Is there a spark? Is dizzy/rotor arm/cap genuine Lucas or ****e copy? The copy's can be no good before you start! Need more info really that's all, doesn't have to be an essay just bullet point the facts and I'll try to help at least.

Hello Aquiesce

Thank you for the offer of assistance

It had been running well, with the only noticeable problem being a 'lumpy' idle on occasion. It would idle at around 400 rpm, then cut out, when hot or cold. Once restarted, it would be perfect.

The starting prob occurred last Friday - it had been a very wet week, so I figured on moisture somewhere in the ignition being most culpable. There is fuel at the injectors, and also a spark, which doesn't look too great to me.

All components replaced so far are genuine.

Cheers

There's fuel at the injectors...but are they injecting? If they arent and you have spark it could be the little inline resistor in the wiring to from the coil to the ecu. If this is disconnected then the ecu doesn't get the signal from the dizzy telling it to inject.

You mention that the spark seems weak? Do you have access to the required test parameters/equipment to test the coil? Also have you changed HT leads? If so try swapping the new King Lead with the old one, its been known to get a duff lead in a new set you know. Is there any sort of smell of fuel/flooding when you are turning it over for a prolonged period of time? Also where in the country are you?
