V8 disco 1 won't bloody start

D1 V8 not starting have had the AA out he was here a good while checking but couldn't pin it down. Has no spark or fuel there is power to the coil but no trigger to fire it. The inertia switch is not operated. Immobiliser appears to work by the flashy light.
Anyone have any ideas

Thats what the D1 immobiliser does, cuts the ignition and in an a roundabout way the fuel pump, So are you still able to crank the engine? which the immobiliser should also prevent if the system is fully functional,

Ok then run a temporary wire from the battery + across the engine to the coil + and see if the engine starts. The coil + terminal has a white/ black wire clipped to it, iirc...
