    Hi All,
I'm new on here, I am building a V8 auto 110 defender on a Galvanized chassis.
The engine and box are from a D2 complete with the full loom, ECU, BCU and various ancillaries.
I have not heard the engine run so I know there are some unknowns here...
I purchased the chassis and engine as a project but although the engine now turns over with the key there is no spark and the pump does not run.
I notice that the tachometer doesn't calibrate on switch on.
The computer when connected says there is earth connection fault on the ECU.
I have connected every earth carefully to the chassis so any advice you have would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance
  2. Oh yes all the plugs are in the Engine Fuse box but I have one single plug with one single wire missing and unplugged in the passenger compartment fuse box and I'm not sure if that is relevant...

You will need a dedicated Land Rover diagnostic tester like a Nanocom Evolution, all the RAVE manuals pertaining the electrical circuits to check your wiring and the manuals for the Bosch/Thor 4.0L V8 engine.
Also check your coil packs, spark plug wiring and spark plugs for condition and correct firing order.
To add... check the crankshaft position sensor (CPK) on the LHD side of the engine. The CPK go bad which they allow the engine to turn over but not run so replace it with a Bosch brand part number ERR-735.

Thanks for your help.
I now have the Rave manuals so I should be able to trace the missing passenger compartment fuse box wire...
