V8 90 LPG conversion

Hi, I have a 1989 V8 90 and due to obvious financial reasons am looking to convert to LPG. I've got a kit that was taken off an earlier 110 that had Stromberg carbs, where as I am on SUs. My question is whether it is feasible to tap the mixer into the alluminium intake pipe between the filter and carb, to save buying the aluminium inserts that go between this pipe and the carb to hold the mixer, as the ones I've got obviously don't fit the SU carburettor. Anybody done this or have any thoughts? Any advice would be much appreciated.
