A quick follow on question please....

Assuming I'm happy with my current plan of trying to find a 300tdi 110 as a base-vehicle, so that I can keep front & rear axles standard (disc brakes), and suspension standard (ish), then is there any reason I couldn't also look for an early TD5 as a base? Obviously It'd need to be pre-2001 to avoid the newer tax bandings, but were there any other changes between the 300tdi and early td5's? Apart from the engine of course - which I wont be using anyway.

doh... it's been so long since I looked at this thread that I forgot MQ's response just above!

still... any major differences in running gear and suspension type stuff? chassis will end up being a new richards galv on in V8 spec anyway.

EDIT: I seem to remember reading something about other chassis changed for TD5 - rear end possibly? Something to do with the fuel tank? Given that I'm trying to keep identifiable changes to a minimum, I need to know about any other possible changes I may not be aware of. As far as I know, the 300tdi chassis will be identical to the new v8 spec one except for the engine mounts - I just don't know if the same is true of the TD5
