Hi thanks for your help it the thin pipe leading to 11 o’clock in the picture

That's the clean air supply to the air assisted injectors. It was used on that engine until some time in 2002, when the later none air assisted injectors were fitted. This happened at the same time the Bremi coils were replaced with Bosch pencil coils instead.

What's the issue you're after solving?

I replaced the thermostat and pipes and engine runs fine except no cold idle. When I remove that pipe cold idle is fine but you can hear vacuum taking air in. I may have kinked the pipe but if it’s not meant to pass air it can’t be that. I vacuum tested that pipe and it holds vacuum as though blocked or plugged into a switch.

Don’t want to remove intakes again to find the pipe is not kinked after all.

It will pass air as that's its job, however I suspect that the idle issue is caused by the IACV, which is the block on top of the throttle butterfly housing. These are known to seize (normally in the closed position), giving no idle, or unstable idle if it's working but sticky.

The pipe is blocked so not passing air where does it plug into and how do I get to it? Thanks

I lied about where that pipe goes (memory is foggy due to age, and it's been almost a decade since I last worked on a KV6). It looks like it goes to the pressure regulator on the rear fuel rail. So unplugging it could alter the fuel pressure. It'll also allow extra air into to the inlet manifold.
