V5 & chassis wanted - advice

I'm desperately trying to buy a V5 & chassis for a Defender/90 as a birthday present for my partner who's doing a rebuild project and needs a V5 ID. I appreciate the difficulties with this

so it doesn't matter if the chassis is u/s. Can anyone advise/help please? Cheers.

I don't think that's legal as such.
Could you not buy a new chassis and register it as a Q plate?

It's legal if it's with the chassis (rather than just buying the ID). I think people have got nervous about advertising such, making it bloomin difficult to now buy it!
Tried eBay but they're gone/sold in a flash!

my advice would be to buy a basically complete but almost total scrapper, use it as the base and keep as many of the original bits (axles engine gearbox) as possible to acumulate enough points to keep the original plate (if that's what you want) .
