I'm gonna be using me 90 for me handyman business, but I'm struggling to find insurance at a sensible price. A couple of brokers have said it can't be classified as a van and has to be insured as a car being used for business. This makes it much more expensive and won't cover the contents (tools etc).
The best quote I've got so far is £560! - I was only paying £180 for private use with all mods declared and an agreed value of £6500.
Is anyone else using their Landy for business? Who are you insured with and how much?

Is ur 90 a hardtop (blanksides) or Station Wagon? If its the hardtop surely to god it's a van, my s3 hardtop was insured as a van on business use when I was lopping and topping back in the day.

if yoyr remote from civilasation you are an easy target.20 miles from town and it starts going up etc....
After 3 months of digging the only company i could find for less than £301 was Flux. That is quite modded too with a tool value of 10k and chipper at 10k or trailer and contents 10k.They didnt charge me for the week when i had 20k tracked chipper on 5k new trailer on hire.
Flux are exellent to me after all these years im so glad to find some one that i can talk to about mods and they understand.

Well, so far the only company that have talked any sense is NFU. They need to refer it to their underwriter, but they're giving me 65% NCD, even though it's a new policy. No one else offered that, the best any other company offered was 10% "Introductory discount".
Waiting for the figures to come through.

I'm with LV, and last august I paid £680, fully comp, with 4 years NCB, full business use for me, plus the wife for SDP. Specifically excludes any tools or equipment carried in the vehicle, based on an annual mileage of 25k.

However, did a quick search a while back, and it could be as low as £390, but that involves using firms you've never heard of.

but most of them are still under written by a small selection of top companies

with my previous landy I used to use the coin banks. Only had to pay car rates then.

With my new one it's classed as a car so I don't need to worry.

The number of seats bit on my V5 is blank.
just looked at my v5 reads same as yours:doh: my previous 90 had differant details so although it had windows in back was only marked as 3 seats so was a commercial so no probs wiyh insurance, would stick with nfu for your needs cos they do understand landys business etc
