Urgent help please!! P38 whining

My mate is currently looking over a p38 RR 1995 4.0l SE with a view to buying it but there is a strange whine coming from the front area, only whilst driving. It gets higher pitched as you increase speed, it also gets louder. If you stay at a constant speed, the pitch and volume also stays the same. We've ruled out wheel bearings and prop shafts. any suggestions appreciated.

Could be loads of things depending on the er.........whine.

My suggestion:-

Walk away, find one that doesn't whine or buy it for next to nuthin and keep yr fingers crossed

gearbox bearings or transfer box..... thats my guess!

Its a woman,Why walk away if you can get it dirt cheap get a price for a secondhand gearbox,transferbox and take it from there.It would be nice if you could get all four wheels off the ground and stick it in gear so you could pin point where its from.Does it appear to be from an axel or certain area.
