Well, on sunday while lanning, didnt see 2 bumps and i went bouncing over them and loud bang!
not the first time it has happened, so didnt pay much attention..

today got under the disco to see if I could remove the tree sliders and found this...

what do you think it is?
just seals...or something more?
it's the rear diff...

I'd see how bad it gets over the next week or so... mine's much oilier than that but I check the diff oil level regular and it don't drop... got the seals just can't be arsed!

I agree with Andy .. when I changed my diff I did all the seals and within a week the diff area looked wet with oil. No change in diff oil levels so I guess it was one of those things. It's still wet, about the same as JP's, but again there's no obvious change in diff oil levels!

I suspect it's the seal letting a small amount go by when the axle/diff is flexed and no more. I'd suggest just keeping an eye on levels and how bad it's getting ... unless you have a wife who dislikes parking bay oil puddles ...

Never been like this...
since I got the disco that it didnt have one single leak, spotless, so when one happears I can see straight away.
I think it's dripping to the floor...not sure. thing is I can check after a week, but it won't have moved...
I only use it to go lanning, so most of the time is parked on the drive....
suppose I better drive it around for a bit to see if it gets any worst...

btw.. what's the name of the thing that connects the prop to the diff mechanism?
My neighbour said it could be only seals or if the "thingy" inside is gone, then you change a seal and after a while is back to a leak...as if the part gets worn, then it will eat through seals.. but can't remember the name!

the pinion??

Na, dont think they are
.. I havent been in mud up to my snorkel recently lol , as I have fitted new push fittings and extended the breathers to the snorkel just 2 months ago...

that's it!
pinion flange!

well, my neighbours is going to do the cambelt change as I dont trust myselft to do it as it's quite an important part of the vehicle and him with 20 years experience on landys and his own business is the right person for the job, so I'll ask if he can have a look while he has the disco there, as I know it's a right pain to take the prop out..
