Can I use any year of brake back plate to convert my front brakes to 11" TLS? Looking in the parts manual it shows what looks like spacer fitted from 1980 onwards. Any info appreciated, have searched history but just ended up confused.
Thanks barleywine.

Its about 40 yrs ago since i did this on a 88 I had(V8) , but you have to use all the TLS bits if you are going the wide 11" TLS , ie backplates, wheel cylinders, drums .
If its just the standard 11" TLS I would think its same as i dont know of a front non TLS 11" .

i've got 11" SLS front brakes on my 88", i used the 11" stuff off a salisbury rear axle...

this meant i had no need to change my master cylinder or slaves, i used a dual line servo assisted pedal box and bits that was scavenged off an 88" breaker that had 10" drums all round, i ignored the shuttle valve and just plumbed straight into the front and rear axles

my 88" will almost stand on it's nose with these brakes
