Hello lovelies
Coming towards the end of my re-wire
However I have some unknown wires I can't wrap my head around and don't appear on the wiring diagram.
Iv provided pictures and will do my best to explain along the way.
Firstly we have the random red/yellow wire that come out by the plug that joins to the rear half of the loom. This same wires other end is the same red/yellow wire in the second picture.

Secondly along the strange that goes towards the wiper motor comes these 3 wires. The same red/yellow. A blue/red connected to the headlights and a ground. The plug to me suggests its part of a proper set up that mine was lacking?

My best guess is this is for a rear fog light maybe?

Yup, I believe red yellow is indeed for the rear fog light. The wires going along the dashboard are for the pull-on switch that allow the fog light switch to only power the light when the blue/red (headlights) are on, and the ground is for the warning lamp in the switch.

The downside of this (as I've tested) is that when the main beam is turned on, the fog light will switch off. But I guess main beam and fog don't mix well, anyway.

Oh, and if you look at a wiring diagram for a newer vehicle (ie, a year after fog lights were introduced), I think you may find it is shown.

I already have a pre-wired fog lamp that runs separate to the loom. Seeing as it pokes out by the auxiliary panel I may keep this for the future fog or spot lights I plan on introducing

Also, does the wiring for the heater fan come separate?

I have a 1960's headlamp switch - Lucas 4 positition as I had to sort my own dash, and it is designed so the heads go off when the fog is on, I think that would be the normal set up then.

The heater wiring was part of my loom... I don't recall the wire colours off-hand, but it wa

Good question! I don't recall pulling this from the old wiring, but it looks like I probably did. The connector in the engine bay isn't new and I can't see one in the pile of old wires, so it looks like I probably did reuse the old fan wiring.

I do recall finding I only had one wire too few in the loom for the windscreen wiper motor, so needed to run an additional wire for dual speed.
