we are having a problem with my dads 1967 series 2a. theres no spark atall at the plugs? its had a new distributor,condensor,points,dizzy cap,rotor arm leads and plugs. still nothing. plenty of spark in the distributor everything is living but theirs none at the plugs? :confused: its a 2 1/4 petrol by the way! spent days trying to solve it but getting no where! andy help would be greatly apreciated!
 
thanks isle of man,man! it is the correct plugs! and weve set up the gap with feeler guages and we have tested the ht leads and they are perfect! but still no spark at the plugs?
 
25thou gap on your points, 25 thou gap on the plugs. make sure that the insulation is ok on the points pivot and that you have the plastic washer underneath it.
You say that you are getting a good spark at the points, the condenser should just about eliminate that as it is there to 'switch' the coil.
Is the carbon sprung rod still in place in the distributor cap?
Check each lead for a spark using the plug earthed against the block, and make sure that the leads are fitted to the correct cylinder, with the firing order 1-3-4-2.
Other than that ... ??

There is fuel getting to the cylinders right..

and as Oldseadog said theres should be no spark going on in the dizzy - take out a spark plug connect it to a ht lead and rest it against a good earth. Just watch for a spark when someone cranks it over. Dont do this on the battery! i managed to detonate an old battery doing this :doh:

Earth strap to body still there?
 
Is the coil connected the right way round? Is the condensor connected across the points gap? Which dizzy is it? Any chance of a piccy?
 
take one plug out put it onto the ht lead and wedge it onto the engine block if the plug has no spark try the ht lead against the block without the plug if there is a spark youve got a dodgy set of plugs if theres no spark at all put a jump lead on the engine block and conect the other end to the chassis and try again if theres a spark you need a new earth lead fromthe engine to the chassis :D:D:D
 
Check that the centre carbon contact in the dizzy cap is conductive.
I had one in a V8 that went open circuit, took me ages to find it :confused:
 
You can isolate the dizzy cap as a problem by using a ht lead straight from the coil to a spark plug on the block. Is it the right dizzy cap? there are several distributor variants that fit landy engines.
