Hi Chaps, i have a 300Tdi which i have owned for a few years now. It has always sat a bit lower at the offside, both at the front and the back. I recently decided to sort this out so i fitted new springs and gas dampers on the front, and new springs to the rear. The thing is ,it is still sitting lower , although it is a bit better. When i removed the old front springs , the offside one was about an inch shorter than the nearside and i thought i had found the problem,,but my joy was shortlived!
Anyone else had a problem like this, would appreciate any ideas.

Cheers Rich.

I've heard that the weight distribution is slightly offset because of the location of the transferbox, not sure if I belive this though... mine has always seemd to be on a slight lean.

Almost every landy I've owned has sat lower on the passenger side. I've been told that it's not normal and that they should be level, Heard the tranfer box theory and I've also heard that it's to compensate for the weight of the driver.?? None of mine have ever suffered because of the lean nor has it affected the handling.

the 300 was also fited with 'Spring Isolators' at the top of the rear spring, which are a plastic/rubber/steel ring... They are held in place just with the weight of the car.

I had one fall out, on some axle twisters, I never bothered to replace them and got shot of them all together when I changed the springs..

My Disco 300 Tdi has equal size springs on both axles, the rears are shorter but stiffer than the fronts. This is the same for the standard springs that came off and for the Heavy Duty springs that replaced them.

Depends where you are, but if you can collect them you can have a set of standards for a tenner ... which will go to school funds. (I'm a caretaker and was going to just weigh them in for school with a load of other metal stuff we have).

Thanks for the replies and the offer of the springs. As i say i have already changed them all for brand new ones, i suppose i will just have to live with it!!

Cheers

Rich.

Where are you? Get someone who knows Landys to look at the suspension, it should sit level. Check the ARB small arms at the rear haven't flipped from both hanging down to one standing up!
