Uneconomical to repair!

That is a serious amount of work and you can see why a garage said it's uneconomical.

Even if you have the skills to do this in your own time, depending on what you do for work, unless you are doing this just to get a mate back on the road it's still costing you a massive amount of time and effort, nice job though.

It especially reminds me of my first Mk2 Escort and later a Transit I had, but I was younger then with far less commitments, Lol.

@Gottschalk Cheers for the like, it spurred me on to upload the pictures from my archives as PB wiped my account from history :(

@The Mad Hat Man @resto_d1

This is some of my earlier work.

My pleasure! I'm about to embark on my own rather stop-start project (stop-start mainly due to time, money and then sapping motivation), on my 2 door RRC, and its this thread and the Tufftee thread that have inspired me to continue!

So thank you!! :)

My pleasure, I love to see the iconic classics saved, the Range Rover was the ultimate vehicle in its day and the Discovery filled the slot when the RRC started to head further upmarket.

It's heavy going at times when the enthusiasm runs a bit low but it's worth every bead of sweat, skinned knuckles and welding burn, looking forward to seeing your build thread ;)

The only thing that ever changes is the paint colour :(

But it is always fun to get them back on the road and see happy owners who thought it was the end of the road for the old things.

It's good of you. There's often good people out there that need a hand. Something impossible to them is easy or fun to you. You are earning yourself good karma! I'm earning my place in hell with the language I shout at mine haha

I will lend a hand to anyone in need (there are exceptions to this of course!) even if it's at my own expense, it's hard enough to ask for help but all too often the promises are empty and the offers never materialise, always the same old lame excuses, I might sometimes be late but I always turn up and always with bags of enthusiasm :)

I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into my own motor next weekend, it's long over due the big cut and weldathon.

Then of course I have my regular Friday date night with TuffTee LOL :D

hahaha. I got one of those inner structural bits in on Sunday. Its looking good. For some reason, I didn't notice I'd taken my jacket off. I now have bad sunburn on one arm. Muppet. Next door but one also came over - retired builder. Was wondering if he was coming to moan about the grinder. Instead he looked around it all asking questions and we talked about jap cars for 20 mins! Wished me good luck and told me to keep at it!

Yeah - interested to see what you do with the boot floor.

Mad question time....
Why don't you have the new parts(arches) galvanised & liquid bond these together?
Does an ally floor from a classic RR fit in the rear ?

Not fully up to date on disco & welding requirements I just like things that don't rot. ;)
& experiment on the way

There are indeed aerospace grade glues that they use to bond planes, boats etc, together, worth a look that's for sure.

I am planning on making my boot floor removable and a bolt in affair with neoprene seals, I was wondering whether I could get away with stainless spire clips and stainless coach bolts?
