Underpowered in 4th gear!!! 300tdi auto

injectors should be simple spay pattern and pressure.

Did they replace nozzle or needle on injectors-there may be a choice of early late type.

Also If I was doing this I would
1)want to be sure timing was correct
2)if like the 200 the pump is set up with a dti gauge-it's correct.
3)checked that the injectors are correctly set and spray patten
4) lift pump flow.
5) don't know what box you have but that the linkages for kick down are correct.
6)auto box oil clean and filter clean.

Until you decide if this is an engine fault-should happen all gears with similar engine speed and loading, Or gearbox fault-you'll go round in circles.

What auto box have you got? and is yours an early 300 tdi without electronics

not sure what type of auto box, i just know its a 4 speed, and yes its the 300tdi without electronics.

when they took the injectors out and cleaned them they said the tips were in good condition, I really can not see how i took the landy in perfectly working and it has come out with this issue th only thing they have worked on is the injectors, why would it be a gearbox fault when they never touched the gear box and all they done was cleaned the injectors, logic tells you that its impossible for the injectors to cause damage/problems with the gear box because they have no direct link to it.

okay it goes like this, Injector leak offs, back to Injector pump, through pipes to small see through filter and back to fuel tank. This vehicle is not standard it has had some work done to it but nothing major, the previous owner was a landy specialist, i wish i could get hold of him and ask him but unfortunatly he is going through some troubles in his life and i dont think he would care much for me right now so i dont want to bother him. this extra fuel filter is just a standard in line see through fuel filter nothing special.
surely there must be fuel that bleeds back through?

so there is no fuel flow visible through the filter in the leak off line ?

lol aint checked that, will do first thing in the moring and will let you know if any comes out. if none comes out what do you think could be the problem there? its midnight here in australia so i cant check it now lol.

just out of curiosity why haven't you taken it back to the "mechanics" and pointed out to them that this fault only started AFTER they had done their works ?

lol, its been with them all week and they have been trying to fix it thats why im asking for ideas here cause even they dont know, the injector specialists dont know, the turbo specialists dont know, the landy specialists done know, no one seems to know why its doing it and everyone keeps saying what it is doing is impossible but it cant be impossible cause its doing it lol

see they thought it was the gearbox but they have checked it and they say its all good. plus how can cleaning the injectors cause the gearbox to go up the ****ter? before they cleaned them everything was fan bloody tastic just a little smokey when i put my foot down thats why i wanted them cleaned, i really think that they have done something wrong with the injectors but they cant find out what. Everyone they have talked to has said what it is doing is impossible and they have never heard of it before, and all these guys are supposedely specialists,

i really honestly think that the injectors are not getting any fuel lubricating the springs inside the injectors :(

I think you should boot the specialist up the hole and stop wasting yur time and go and get a set of injectors, or find another specialist that knows what he is doing.

would you buy a brand new set of injectors if they ****ed them up, over here in australia a set of new injectors costs about 800 pounds for 4

Probably cost you that already for checking things that are ok, I hope you asked them if they tried another set of injectors just in case the ones they sortid aint, and if they are doing the job why the fook did they give you it back like that, dunt they road test before and after.

The problem is with them at the moment, not with you. They are supposed to have cleaned and serviced your injectors. The vehicle was running fine before they worked on the injectors (all albeit a little smoke hence the injector service), so it HAS to be something that they have done. Ask them to at least try another set of injectors. At least that way, if it does run fine, you and the garage will know that it is something that they have done wrong. Also find out exactly what they did with each injector when they serviced them. You may find that they've swapped all sorts of things about and they may have fitted the wrong parts as posted previously. If they do not fix the problem which THEY have made, don't pay them, or (if you have paid them) ask for your money back. If they do buy new injectors or source a different set of injectors, they should be responsible for the cost not you. Remember that you took it in there in good condition for a service, and they have given it back to you worse off. It's very likely that there is someone at the garage who knows what mistake they have made (be it an expensive one to fix) and they're not fessing up to it. If you are going to go down the new injector route, ask them to try it there though, because if you buy a new set which looks like an expensive ordeal, you wont be able to send them back or claim back your money - leave that with the garage.

After i got it back the first time and it did not work correctly i took it back straight away and told them to **** there mistake, they know im not paying for it and they know they have to fix their mistake. i think the problem is they dont think they have made a mistake, i think it was the 3rd party who actually cleaned the injectors that has damaged the injectors. either way my mechanic will fix it even if he needs to put a new set of injectors in he weill just have to cop the bill with the dueds that actually cleaned them.

Sometimes even when its staring them in the face they cant face up to revisit something that they think is sortid,"denial".

You need to go to them and tell em look, its a trillion times worse since you messed about with my injectors, are you gona put another set of either new or reconditioned ones in or not. If you aint and I'm giving you a fair chance, then I'm gona take it to another garage and get it checked over, if its down to your incompatance then you're getting the fokin bill.

So make up you mind now this is you're chance because its gona fokin cost you once I leave here.

You could always didgeradoo em hehe.

lol yes would have done that but today, i went out and checked it over myself.

dont ask why cause i dont know, i think one of their lads broke the pipe that comes from the air intake manifold to the boost pressure gauge, im not sure why but they have obviously tried to fix it and in doing so they have doen this.

from the turbo you have two pipes, one for the injector pump and one for the waste gate.
for some reason they cut the pipe that goes to the waste gate and put a T section on it and ran a pipe back to the boost pressure gauge.

the pipe that they originally broke that goes to the boost pressure gauge, they just tried to bung it up with silicon, this obviously did not stand the pressure coming out of the intake manifold and spat the silicon out, all my lovely pressure was now escaping.

i took it all appart again and put it back how it should go with new pipe and new unions and guess what, bloody fixed it!!!

never going back there again.

nice one, David will still try and convince you to change the injectors thou :)

thanks for all your help and advise guys i really appriciate it. in the future i will change them but for now im just happy that it is going good again so i dont want to mess with the engine, now i just need to test my drop out cones and fix the bloody front diff pinion leak lol.

lol, i totally forgot about this post,

thank you for all your responses,

so it turned out that the mechanic owned up to it in the end and thinks one of the injectors was dropped and bent the tip or some such thing,

they replaced what they had to and its been running fine ever since!
