Hi,
I have bought a Defender (new), and was wondering if I need to put some form of protection underneath like waxol etc.
(have noticed that unlike all other new cars, LR don't seem to put any under body protection on).
I won't be using the vehicle for off roading - more likely just normal road use!

Want to keep for many years but want it to continue looking good under body...Thanks for any advice.

When I bought the Defender- the dealership said that it would not be worth treating the underside in my case if i wasn't going to use it off road, as long as I keep the under side free from mud and road grime/salt during winter months.

I'm not sure where to start as far as doing it myself, equipment needed etc- and don't really have a huge budget to pay anyone else to do it.

Any suggestions/advice would be gratefully received.

They just said to power wash under side regularly!

Not sure if I'm worrying about nothing here- but the cost of the vehicle involved worries me a little if it doesn't stay in fairly good nick...

Give it a coat of Waxoyl and put your mind at rest.

Really simple to do, can go the expensive but quick way of getting a Shutz gun and air compressor, tin of Waxoyl screws to gun and is sprayed on using air from compressor.

Or just buy a regular tin and slap it on with a brush. :)

If i apply by brush- what bits do I avoid or do i do everything i see under side inc. bolts, etc.

Also, if by brush- do i still need to use thinners?
