a nice easy one for you

whilst driving to work this morning through the monsoon in Kent i noticed steam coming off my bonnet. pulled over fearing the worst but nothing untoward was seen.
im thinking that, as i don't have an under bonnet insulation pad, the heat from the engine was just causing the rain water to evaporate.

is the insulation pad crucial? and does it have more that one use ?

cheers

hmmmm i know about them catching fire.... in one of my previous cars it set on fire (ignited by a faulty wiring loom) and wrecked the engine....now im always on my guard. so any on warrented smoke/steam etc from the engine bay gets my immediate attention !!!!

its to keep the noise down but also to protect the paint. My mate left his off after a respray on his straight six bmw. It split the paint all the way down the middle right above the exhaust manifold/head
