Got it right guys. At the time I was working at Desoutter in Colindale designing microcontrollers for tool systems. Having tried long nose pliers a few times on several XJ6 engines, I got the diagram from the service manuals, and a mate in the toolmaking department machined up the tool for me. The great thing about the tool is it also depresses the spring loaded locking thingy that engages on the adjuster knurling.
