Re the geezer having UJ vibes & no solution.
When you have it fixed, first read the service h/book, and then read the lay-out of the way it's made.

If this is the front/case output U/J, AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE THE SERVICE RIPOFF OUTLET DUD YOU LIKE I WAS, then MAKE SURE the output carriage bearing in the T/case is replaced as a mandatory refit when you have the u/j replaced.
That's why it is externally fitted in the housing & lock-ring located.
So you can!

Oh, & btw, priced out a new torque splitter lately? THAT is what the bearing holds in alignment, so it is just sort of mandatory it be in good condition, 'coz it mashes the t/case totally re any further worth when it lets go & puts the metal thru the innards of the case, quite apart from stuffing the torque splitter totally.

Also, while you have it off, lathe chuck the driving flange to the u/j, check the run-out, and face it off back to straight regards alignment if it is out.

Lastly, if there's a sort of extra whirr or whine or hum about the vehicle which drops of or reduces throttle on to throttle off, it is you output bearing going and it needs replacement.
Better the bearing that a new t/case.

Regards all,

Doc
