not much benefit in going wider than 235. 235/70 fit OK, obviously. If you
go much bigger on the diameter you'll have bodywork issues. Much more width
is mostly pose value, TBH - my series III 109 on 7.50 radials probably
performs better off road than the 110 used to on 10.5" wide ones. You do
get a bit more flotation on soft stuff, but the range of terrain where this
makes a meaningful difference is fairly narrow - If you got to 255 width
(say a 255/65 or something) then on softish ground it'll sink in a bit less.
On really soft ground it'll sink anyway, and on harder stuff you'll get less
bite due to the reduced ground pressure.

Once, when the secrets of science were the jealously guarded property of
a small priesthood, the common man had no hope of mastering their arcane
complexities. Years of study in musty classrooms were prerequisite to
obtaining even a dim, incoherent knowledge of science.
Today, all that has changed: a dim, incoherent knowledge of science is
available to anyone. - Tom Weller, Science Made Stupid, 1986
