ok had 235/8516 tyres on my 90 .all terrains have just done my 1st offroad session with the new insa turbo specail track tyres fitted 265/75/16..how dissapointed was i i could have put up with the army landrover sounding tyres on the road, but off road and on the tyres rub on full lock which sounds annoying to say the least and they also keep bottoming out and even popped one rear arch of the body they are also quite a hard ride.any ideas why theese tyres are doing this as they are smaller than my original tyres but a bit wider..

probably because they are a more aggresive tread pattern. they may be a little smaller but the side knobbles and extra rubber wont help.

all you need to do is adjust the stops on the swivel housing to stop the rubbing. from the wheelache rubbing i suggest you consider lifting your 90 a little to aid articulation and prevent this happening

The Greenway Macho are still fairly aggressive and you will prob have the same shoulder rub on all of them and the side/shoulder knobbles stick out a fair wack.

why dont you just adjust the stops on it now and see how the insa's go? or are they that bad? you could just go for the standard BF MT pattern. Insa do a copy called the dakar. its exactly the same and avial in 265/75

dont fancy fitting 1.5" lift spacers? :)

The boy racers roll the wheel arches to stop the mad wide wheels rubbing, dunt know if that's any use to you.

My AT's are ****e in mud as well, but don't the agressive ones get banned from greenlanes.

i did have a 2" lift spacer kit to go on but the local landy garage refused to fit them as they said it was too crude and wouldnt last..are the bfg mts any good i have seen them

WTF? is it just the spacers you have? mine were fine for 2years... sold the vehicle now. no reason for them to go wrong. BF tread pattern is a great balance between road and mud. may not get you up some slippy steep mud banks at the pay and plays that other aggressive tyres will just manage but for all around performance, you cant beat them.

G

where did you buy them from? were they steel or alu?

cant say on size. its a preffernece thing. but loads of people run 265's without lift and without any probs. ive moved onto 255/85's now and these seem good.

G

who is enforcing this? they are not banned, just not recommended. you have to think though, if the lane is THAT bad that you need super swampers then manybe you shouldnt be driving it in the 1st place!

G

thats true!
i've been laning a few times (before i could afford the at's, but only on the front mind, the rear tyres are 215 70 16 van tyres) and never got stuck, and some of the lanes were really muddy,
an the front tyres then were almost bald:eek:
but still din't get stuck, some lanes were mud an some were rock,

i think it's more to do with your driving style, an how you use your hi/lo ratio and diff lock, not your tyres,

but thats just my opinion, an if ya think i'm talkin bolix i'm sure you'll tell me:rolleyes:
