So I see. Wonder why the dealer "dressed them" to look like new and told me he had put new Scorpions on because "they just look right".
Answer: All Car salesmen tell fairy-stories. Mostly based on what they think will help make the sale.
But then only when a see a gullible prospect, any one with a wee bit of automotive knowledge would see through their spiel.

Cooper zeons have transformed the ride on mine £500 fitted. 17 year old tyres will be saggy at the sidewall. TBH any new Tyre will be a transformation. Especially with a good track alignment. Check your radius arm bushes before you do everything though. Old tyres are dangerous.and don't perform properly. My xjs was a different car with new tyres.

It can only happen to me. Tyre delivery just now.
"Hold on mate, I've got another one.!
Really? I said, you should have 3 more.
Apparently 2 have gone missing in the transport network and they "Hope" to locate them and get them delivered tomorrow.

Happened to me, two delivered, two more on another van. The driver said he had too many deliveries so they split the load???? It was lost on him when I pointed out he would only deliver once if the order was for 1or 100.:) The van was nearly empty so it wasn't a weight problem.

New boots!!:D
Yup! Its a relief TBH. I dread to think what could have happened. As I do only about 500 miles a year (honestly!) these will probably perish before I wear them out.
It is the "retired" life means you don't pound up and down the M-Ways for half the day.

I had a 14 year old but low mileage rear tyre fall apart at around 80mph which put the car in a spin which there was nothing I could do about. Replaced the wheel with the new and unused spare that went bang in less than 100 miles.
I then replace all five tyres. The tyres are still on the car after 27 years of very low mileage as the car tucked up in the garage for most of the year, but then as I know the tyres are on borrowed time I check them and keep my speed down.
So I would say replace all five of your tyres.

this.
i replaced a couple of my tyres recently because of age rather than use. its just not worth the risk imo, mine were 15+ years old and starting to crack

Not yet retired, but plenty off off road trail finding/bashing at the weekends.
Brilliant buses!
I'm off to this year's land legend here in France this coming may. Didn't make last due to a shortage in funds. 6.5hr drive. I'll hopefully post some pictures for you tarmac munchers.:p;):D

Are you getting your tracking sorted to! Simple job as there's no adjustment at the rear and the springs don't sag.

I had a set of General Grabbers fitted to my RRC years ago in replacement for the original spec. Michelins. This was not because they were worn or even showing signs of wall cracking but because, having read the sidewall codes, I discovered the Michelins were 22 years old
As has been said the improvement in handling was noticeable but it does go to show that time expired tyres may not be immediately obvious to a new owner, so always check the codes unless you have evidence of when the tyres were last replaced.

They offered to check & adjust my tracking, but I declined as the car drives fine and there was no evidence of any uneven wear on the old fronts, the treads were perfect from a wear perspective.
