I'm thinking of getting some new decent tyres for my 200 disco as its only on some 205 road biased jobs at the minute. Are insa turbo dakars any good at all in 235 x70? Ideally I'd like a 2" lift but im a student hence im poor. Are 235 70s the biggest i can do without a lift and are the dakars any good offroad?

Dakars are ok. As for sizes DO A FOOKING SEARCH!! yu could even try typing what size tyres will fit my disco. Funnily enuff I think 1 or 2 other peeps mite have asked a similar question to yours!!:doh:

Fair enough then! Also, as I'm new to coil sprung landys, are +2" spring spacers actually any good? Also, will the on road handling go majorly downhill with 2" of lift?

nah spacers are ****e (IMO) disco is already top heavy lifting it's centre of gravity dunt help it. But as long as yu accept that a 2"lift is going to mean you'll have to drive a bit slower & not throw it into corners at speed then it's a liveable compromise.

Think I may just go with lift springs and dampers then. Would HD springs by any better as I've heard I'd gain about 1.5" lift? HD just so It'd be less sloppy on road.

My Disco has HD springs all round, stock suspension otherwise, and it doesn't give you a lift as such. What it does do is not droop as much as standard, so the net effect is a small lift, maybe an inch tops ... it does nothing for the articulation, so if it's for mostly off-roading I wouldn't get HD's, I'd get 2" lifted springs and shocks ... and extended brake lines are, in my opinion, a must for off-roading with a lift.

If you do get extended brake lines, go for 4" over, gives you scope for future enhancements like dislocation cones and extended shock mounts etc for increased articulation .. ;)
