Hi everyone, I'm coming up to a years ownership of my Freelander TD4 and use it for work and shooting/fishing trips. First of all I must say that this has been a pleasure to own after being very reluctant to buy a Freelander. I've owned a Range Rover classic, Isuzu Trooper, Suzuki Vitara V6, a few Mitsubishi Pajero's even a Lada Niva Cossack and I think this has been the best all rounder out of all of them.
I've currently got Pirelli Scorpions STR all round and the two fronts are starting to wear. I'm looking for a good all round tyre that will perform ok on roads and across farm fields and muddy tracks. I'm currently using 225/55/17. Would I need to change my rims too? Can anyone recommend a decent tyre for what i need,Thanks.

Black round ones are good

My disco, has only ever had Goodyear Wranglers on it, since new, these are brilliant tyres, very good milage out of them aswell and they are quiet on the motorway. Majority of my driving is on road, its been round the land rover billing shows off road circuit a fair few times with no problem. I go to wales very often, out in the sticks, never a problem across wet fields through mud etc.

I now have Michelin latitudes on I used to have Goodyear wranglers on my old one ,but what ever you have make sure that they are for a 4x4 and also have M&S on them , No not Marks and spencer's but Mud and snow

Hahaha. I wondered why I got funny looks in m&s when I asked where they keep there tyres!
Thanks for the advice.

If the Pirelli Scorpions STR have been ok then just have a new pair fitted to rear & move others to front if still good on tread ?

I was thinking that but I read somewhere that you should change all 4 at once. Something to do with the 4 wheel drive system.
