The snow is here and we had around 5/6 inches last night. The wife had the Disco at work yesterday and on the home we have been visited by our three friends. Not the Wise Men......the other three F----RS :mad::(
Two rear hubs now ordered from Island 4x4.
 
Gold ( you have to pay), Frankie's sense (i.e.none) and Myrrhder to have to fit the new hubs in the snow.

Do wonder why the three amigos didn't show up in normal driving!

Hubs came today. Brilliant service from Island 4x4
I’m wondering now if I even needed the hubs. There’s is a note in the box about it needing a “Long Lead” if it’s a Sensor fault. My Nano showed a left rear sensor fault and I automatically thought hub. Anyone got any info on this long lead thing ? It seems to do away with the joint plug from what I’m reading !!

Never heard about a lead that removes the joint plug, only difference ref length I know iirc of is that the rears have longer leads than the fronts.

These don’t look any longer than the ones on the front !!!
I’ve done three on the front but never a rear yet. I’ll have a look at Rave and see what it says.

I may have got it backwards and the front is longer than the rears, I no longer have my spare parts to check.

It would make sense this way as it used to be a case of having an o ring for the rear with a front hub kit as that had the longer cable. So covered for all eventualities. My bad.

No bad on your part mate. I’ll find out tomorrow though as it’s supposed to be a dry day and I’ll get these done.

Good luck, I assume on the new hubs you have checked the nut size and have a socket for it.

Some of the aftermarket hubs have bigger nuts. If you are just changing the sensor, then I hope they come out for you, I had one that would not budge.

All good on the tool front. I’ll even get to use my 30 tonne press for the first time to press the shaft out :D
 
I got delivered a front one by mistake, it came with the longer lead, obvs and all the grommets etc were wrong, and it needed the O ring as mentioned above.
But with a bit or jiggery pokery, the longer lead was threaded through and modified to fit and stay in place, with the O ring it fit fine, the bolts that came with the kit were too long so I reused the old ones.
To free off the hub I simply undid the four bolts a tiny bit then clouted them all on the back with a hammer, they freed off just fine, so the hub came off easy, no need for a press..
The problem you may find if you only have ordinary torque wrenches is the huge torque needed to tighten it up. Many of us have simply used body weight and maths on a long bar, to do it.
I did mine a couple of years ago and it has been fine since.
Not really a hard job at all compared to some on the Disco 2

Your right, I didn’t need my press :(
I tightened it up with my new DeWalt torque wrench though :) I put my long bar on it with a tube extension to test it and it wouldn’t budge. Lights out and job done.
