Has anyone tried this or heard of any negative outcomes ? its supposed to make the engine run smoother ?
For one thing there are several other threads about this already
And for another, if you are worried about fuel quality, why not try a fuel additive, many are available for different problems and multi purpose.

if you use red 2 stroke it'll give the wombles a bit of a fluster until they get it tested, if you use green 2 stroke, you'll have less of a wait in the layby.

:doh::doh: apart from they dont dip any more, they use a sniffer probe to text eggsauce gasses for chemical tracers, the dye is there to tell what you are tipping in the tank so you cant pretend you didnt know.

The exact reason they can tell if you are using read even if you have taken they dye out.

Why would they sell an upper cylinder lubricant (Redex) for a diesel?

Maybe to lube the fuel pump I spose:)
I have never tried the diesel Redex, but I do run additive for just that reason, the modern diesel has a lot of bio ad is very thin and dry. The one I use increases the lubricity of the fuel to protect IP and also adds a few cetane numbers, theoretically increasing fuel mileage. Its supposed to clean the fuel system too, but if you really want to do that petrol is just as good a cleaner.
Quite cheap too, adds about 1.5p to the price of a litre if you buy in bulk :)

I use it (2 stroke oil) in my Saxo 1.5d and it does run smoother, I also put some in the Landy 2.5n/a but cant say I've noticed a difference:)

Millers ecomax is good in old landys and tracs :) Might try some in my Clio now you've mentioned that, never bothered before. I guessed the pump was built for the modern fuel.

we're twenty years behind the civilised world! :D they still dip around here, and the gypos still strip the dye with a loaf of stale bread and get away with it

the farmers just chuck it in straight. when foreign plod and vosa wombles come around, the town grapevine is incredibly quick. the untaxed/mot'd red deiseled 4x4s disappear and they're all driving their mrs' 306 or whatever legal little eurobox she has. the local coppers dont bother them.
