Been doing other things but had a couple of goes at fitting snail adjusters to the rears on the 110.
Still no luck.
Problem seems to be that one adjuster is 6mm away from the piston and the other is 8mm away from the piston. The adjusters are the same and the pins on the shoes are in the same place on each shoe so how does that work then?
The leading shoe adjusts up but there is no way that I can get the rear shoe to connect with the snail.
any tips please :)

Problem is there seems to be no way that the rear most adjuster can be made to work as is not in the right place on he backplate.

Or is it me

Sorry.
I'll take me camera up to the workshop tomorrow:)

The holes in the backplate that take the adjusters are not the same distance from the pistons and the pegs on the shoes are the same on each shoe so they can't match and one will not work. or am I missing something

Think you're right you know. pics it is:rolleyes: tomorrow:eek:

are you using the orginal cams ?

if not have you used the correct size cam as most of the new so called replacement sets have a number of different sizes included

these have caused me simillar problems mnay times in the past, so i've now started buying up any old stock (such as Unipart) replacement kits that i can find along with any good used brake back plates as the new replacement adjuster kits are shockingly poor quality

Here ye go...

Good point about size of cams.
I was told by the mechanic  at the place I bought the kit from, that there were two sizes in the box. One was for 110 and one was for 90.
He said it was a long time since he had done them but it was easy.
I'll have another go at it tomorrow, meantime bustersbus may come up with pics,
He usually does;):)

Ta very much Bustersbus.
Do these actually work?
Mine are on the same as that and the one on the right doesn't work whichever way round I put the snail.
The pegs are in the same holes as yours on the shoe.
The shoes are new, the snails are spaced out from the drum Ok but it dosn't seem to be pushing the shoe out against the drum at all.
The one on the left works perfect on mine so I cant work out what's wrong.
Maybe I'll change me glasses and try again tomorrow, I'll take some pics:).

Nae wurries;)
Have ye tried turnin' it the other way to see if that works? Ah'm 'almost' sure when ah did mine ah had to do one up one way and the other the opposite way... it's been a while tho'!;):D

Yup, done em both ways and had the snail on both ways as well. Watched to see if they was workin as I turned the bolt and held the shoes flat against the backplate so as the peg would be pushed but nowt either way,
Might weld a bolt on the shoe in the right place to connect with the snail.
Maybe tomorrow eh.

Right.
Fitted all bits in drum and secured drum to axle.
Adjusted the front adjuster up (front one on rear axle) and the drum locked.
Adjusted the rear adjuster up and it conected with the peg in the shoe and then after 3 clicks it dropped off the snail. Went round again with the adjuster and it connected again and then after 3 clicks it dropped off the snail.
The drums have no lip on so they are not that worn and the shoes are new, the adjusters are new and I'm using the large snails that were in the box.
Had a Land Rover expurrt with me ( with a beard ) and he said he had the same trouble with his 110CSW but cant remember how he fixed it.

What I did notice and haven't tried yet is that the leading shoe has the lining in a different place on the metal shoe and I was using it as the trailing shoe so maybe the peg is in a slightly different place. Dont look like it but I will measure tomorrow.

Other than that I'm going to drill a hole in the shoe and tack a bolt in it to act as a peg for the snail to push against so as I can get adjustment.

Any other ideas?

pics a bit blurred but then I'm not that good wi mi camera.:)

solved the problem, the bearded gent was correct.
both adjusters now working a bloody treat without any welding or bodging :D:D:D

Which was.....???

E hem.
The brake shoes are not the same in that the leading shoe has the peg for the snail in a different position than the trailing shoe. So if put on arse about face  the rear most snail will not, or only just, connect with the peg in the shoe.
Not easy to spot as it's about a quarter of an inch different only.

Linings also glued on to shoes in different positions, (see pics)

Job Done:cool: :D
