All,
Came out of mot today, passed. But I pulled away at low revs and two large knocks can from rear diff area. Car seems ok but what could have happened?

Just driven home and got a feeling there is no drive to rear wheels. Any easy way of testing this and would a fault come up on dash?

As above MOT station fooked it. No fault message for that. To test it put transfer box in neutral (fuse 11) handbrake off (wheels chocked) get under and see if you can turn the prop, if you can the diff is shot.

they have wound the box up by using a 4x4 on a 2WHEEL ROLLER!!

take it back.

What has actually happened to the gearbox then? Today was a re-test and I had driven it for approximately 40 miles after they tested the brakes on the rollers as it failed on a track rod end, I change it and took it back today. They took it up on the ramp to test the track rod end pass it and took it off. I did feel a very small knock the day after the original test but didn't think much of it as it has happened to me on other autos before.

Thanks tried that (put in fuse 37 on l322) on very slight movement as I would expect for being ok. Do you think I need to check anything else as I've got a long journey to do in a few days. I know the diff is ment to be sealed for life but can I lube it?

forgot to subscribe to thread as this has interested me now

Now I've done a bit of research and they should test drive the brakes with a tapely meter it's a box that measures brake force From in the car. I still need glans sure mine is ok though it seem to drive ok and I tested the rear diff but worried it may happen again
