two inch lift

bought a 300tdi 1997 disco few month back with 2" lift, last month had squeak noise when driving, found it eventually to be frony prop uj knackered. so after a few searches on 2" lift issues, there seems to be a few diffrent ideas on what to change or upgrade. can anyone confirm what should be done or not and all agree or is it pick try and learn the hard and costlt way.

1. cranked rear trailing arms, change, leave, get with rose joints, get rock slide type, causes more probs.

2. castor corrected radius arms.leave,get. diffrent sizes degree wise, which one. or off set bush kit or corrected swivel balls.

3. adjustable panhard rod needed?

4. props. wide angled sizes? extended grease nipples, or kardon shafts-double cardon? cv props.which ones or leave.

You missed the obvious:

1. Standard height springs and dampers.

I'm sure you'll be able to sell the 2" lift stuff on eBay/etc to ease the old finances etc

so 2" lift was a waste of money then fick sake why do companies no tell u this when selling you these

.....they are not a waste of money however your right to ask why don't they give helpful, honest advice which would have been to advise you that there are certain issues with the kit....i.e extra strain on uj's because of the more severe operating angle....wide angle props is the possibly the easiest but as i don't have the car with this kit on any more somwone will be along to suggest the simplest solution to keeping your lift kit and saving you a regular uj replacement cost....

thanks for some positive feedback hope soon cause dont want to keep replacing worn out parts if i can fit modified parts to prevent this

Modified front props are about £186 on ebay. They are not essential in the short term and some people manage without them but I'm intending to fit one when I lift mine (td5) - reduces load on transfer box bearings too.
Question though - when were your UJs last greased? they need very regular greasing, especially if you have a lift. So the fault may not necessarily be down to the lift...

I looked into castor correction too. Some people manage well without it and others find they need it. So suck I've decided to suck it and see initially.
Why lift? you need to only if you want to fit bigger tyres in order to increase ground clearance. The ground clearance is not bad as is but if you are doing a significant amount of off road then it may be worthwhile for you.

Errr...

Without castor corrected radius arms the front uj is doing no more work with a lift than as standard.

Leave it as is but keep your uj's greased up (most importantly the ones closest to the TBox) and replace the bushes as they go.

i had a 2" lift on my last fender and 35" tyres

no other chassis improvements.arms,props etc
never had a prob atall in the 2 years it was on

Well since UJs are about £10 each the cheapest option is to replace them and grease on a regular basis.
