... then turning the key further to engage the starter motor, the HDC and TC lights come on for about just less than a second.

I can't remember if this is standard operating procedure and would appreciate someone checking their facelift hippo and letting me know.

Many thanks..........ebt (2005 TD4 HSE) :monitor_punch:

If I'm reading this correctly you're saying the HDC and TC lights come on again whilst cranking the engine?

Mine does do this

2006 TD4 HSE

im intrested to follow this one as mine did the same thing the 2 lights come on then when u touch the breaks the will go out 08 2001 td4

I had the same with my 2006 TD4. I bought a new switch only last week and fitted it last Saturday only to find the new switch faulty. Re-fitted the old switch but before it was fitted I gave it a few good pumps of the plunger now everything seems fine, the lights have not come on since so hopefully it was just a dirty connection.

Many thanks, that's exactly what I waws asking. When I crank, those 2 come on for less than a second. Need to get that switch out and give it a damned good clean !

Hope access is fairly easy !!

It was a right pain in the rear end for me, suffering from arthritis didn't help mind. I had to call out the AA in the end to re-fit the old switch. I noticed when he did it he lay on his back with his head under the break and accelerator pedals. It took him about 20 mins to fit it.

Sorry, I've misled you. I'd never noticed but the Amber HDC and TC lights do indeed make a brief appearance whilst cranking the engine. It is brief though - probably less than ½ a second

What I have noticed is that when I start my hippo, (ie, after switching on the ignition and waiting for all instrument lights to go out) and then turning the key further to engage the starter motor, the HDC and TC lights come on for about just less than a second.

mine Do as well ..
er .. here .. it be the TC 'n ABS lights within the temp. gauge that do it ..
that's first start of the day .. .. remainder of daily ignitions only trigger the TC light
( almost be like a capacitor needs charging up .. something like that .. maybe )
