Hi all,
After the catastrophic failure of my engine, I've been looking buying a Turner Engineering recon engine and noticed that I have a couple of options:

The standard recon 300tdi engine @ £2195

Or the above with gasflowed performance head fitted @ £2320

The question I have is whether I'm likely to notice a difference between the two or if I would be better off saving the £200?

Cheers,

Chris

The chap I bought my 110 from had one of these engines fitted. I've not got anything to really compare it with as this is my first defender but it does seem to run very well and pulls like a train cruising at 70 no problems. Not cheap but then I didn't pay for it :)

or buy a different landy? :)

The thought did cross my mind, but I know how well mine has been looked after and I would never be able to find another '98 300tdi for less than a Turner engine will cost.

Plus I've just been told that Turner will remanufacture the original engine for me, and the perfectionist in me can't help feeling that keeping the original engine with the vehicle is the right thing to do.

Cannot argue with that! Excellent reason, if you've got the money and you really like the idea, then I'd say for you it! :)

You could buy a 2.8tgv engine instead

yeah for £6.5K! thats drive in and out i think.

Was my original thought too but there expensive and not a straight swap.

Get rid of the land rover lump and put in a yota or a nissan. More torque and power, ten a penny parts and ultra reliable.
